Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Orbiter (“Service”), operated by socialmemorycomplex.earth . By creating an account, joining a room, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Orbiter provides live video circles for up to twelve participants, with tools for greeting, turn-taking, meditation timers, and reflection. The Service is intended for spiritual seekers, meditation circles, and small facilitated groups. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. The Service is available on the web and may also be available through native mobile applications.

3. Accounts and eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or join a room. The Service is not directed to anyone under 18.
  • You must provide accurate registration information and keep your password secure.
  • New accounts may require administrator approval before you can sign in.
  • Creating and facilitating rooms requires separate facilitator approval.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account.
  • If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete the associated personal information.

4. Rooms, invitations, and facilitators

Facilitators may create rooms, invite members by email or shareable link, and schedule events. You may join a room only through a valid invitation or invite link issued for that room. Facilitators may invite only adults. You may invite only people you know who would reasonably expect to hear from you about this room. You may not upload purchased, rented, or scraped lists.

Facilitators are independent users. They are not employees, agents, clergy, or representatives of the operator. We do not employ them, supervise sessions, or verify licenses, lineage, or fitness to lead a group. Any teaching, pastoral care, class fee, or dana is solely between the facilitator and the people they invite, and is not processed by Orbiter.

If you facilitate a room, you are responsible for who you invite, what you title the room, and how the session is run. You will indemnify the operator against claims arising from your room, your invitations, or your conduct, except to the extent caused by the operator’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Room creators may delete rooms permanently; deletion removes associated memberships, invitations, and events. Live sessions on Orbiter are not privileged or confidential as to Orbiter or the other people in the room.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for unlawful, harassing, abusive, or fraudulent purposes.
  • Share content that infringes others’ rights or violates applicable law.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, rooms, or systems.
  • Disrupt sessions, interfere with other participants, or circumvent access controls.
  • Scrape, reverse engineer, or overload the Service except as permitted by law.
  • Record, screenshot for redistribution, transcribe, or allow a third party to record a live session unless every participant has agreed beforehand.

We may suspend or terminate access for conduct that violates these Terms or poses risk to others or the Service. You may report abuse through the in-Service report path or by emailing orbiter@socialmemorycomplex.earth.

6. Live sessions and media

Live video and audio are transmitted between participants using your browser or mobile app and device. Orbiter does not record or store live session audio or video. You may not record, screenshot for redistribution, transcribe, or allow a third party to record a live session unless every participant has agreed beforehand. Other participants can see and hear you when your camera or microphone is on. A facilitator in your room can mute your microphone or camera for that session. Joining a room is consent to those session controls.

Audio and video are encrypted in transit between participants (DTLS-SRTP). If a direct connection is not possible, our relay forwards those encrypted packets and does not decrypt them. We do store account and room records, and we log events such as sign-in, invitations, and room open and close. We do not use facial recognition or create biometric templates. You are responsible for your own camera, microphone, and network choices.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of content you provide (for example, room names, profile information, and images you upload). You grant us a limited license to host, display, and transmit that content solely to operate the Service. You represent that you have the rights needed to provide such content.

8. Donations and third-party services

Optional donations may be processed by third parties such as PayPal or Patreon. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. We do not store your payment card or bank details for donations. Donations are voluntary, are not a subscription, and do not unlock paid Host features.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. Orbiter is a communication tool, not medical, psychological, or emergency services. Do not use the Service as a substitute for professional care. In an emergency, contact local emergency services. In the United States, you may call or text 988 for mental-health crisis support. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SOCIALMEMORYCOMPLEX.EARTH AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; those limits apply only to the extent permitted by law.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
